If you had experience like I had with photos you will often have pictures with red eyes. This problem is easily solved with Gimp, the open source image manipulation tool. I didn’t know that this was so easy to solve. Just use Filters < Enhance < Red Eye Removal
Sometimes its good to choose the eye one by one with the selection tool.
And that is it. You have solved one small but disturbing problem in your life.

fascinating read. Vietnamese entrepreneur is disassembling iPhones and hacking them to unlock them and make them usable for Vietnamese network carriers. Apple has restrictive policies regarding using their product with other networks (read outside their monopoly). Some people are not accepting this.
Other people get even more creative. Linux is entering iPhone. It seems that open source and spirit behind it is unstoppable.

But from my perspective, why at first place acept such repressive policies from Apple. I would never support them and buy their product. Just choose an open source G1 Android.

Today I had some problems, with audacity.I have some experience in sound editing with audacity ( I am editing podcasts for Jerry Michalsky http://yi-tan.com/ ) but until now I was forced to work with it only in windows.
This was the error message: “Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate.”
Today after a small research I found what the problem was, wrong output card. This is how I solved it: Edit -> Preferences -> Playback -> Device
I had in this tab ALSA: HDA NVIDIA: ALC883 Digital (hw:0,1). Instead of this I choosed ALSA: default and the problem was solved.
