Blog costs and a small experiment

Decided to do a little experiment. Will pay for the hosting and domain name. But as a promise expectation of myself, I have decided to do at least a blog post every month. I have convinced myself that I can justify the expenses if I do the posting. I am not sure if I will post something more meaningful or short updates. It probably does not mater, in the vein of quantity is a quality of its own. Who said that I am not sure. But it rings true. I remember vaguely that among the geniuses of the past, the supposed secret was the number and production value of their work. Picasso and Van Gogh supposedly painted thousands of pieces before strucknig gold on few of them. Same for musicians, and scientists too.

So for about 70$, I get to shout in the void with my name on it. Yeah, great. On the other side, I am not serving any damn “social networks”. I was one of the first in my circles to embrace such websites, FB and others. Also first to completely cut them off. They had a large promise, yet the promise held true mostly if not only to owners of the platforms. Rest of us just got the illusion of social networks, and yes we got the chance to be manipulated in a barely visible way. Thank you but not thank you.

I have a slight fear that something similar could/will happen with the current LLM platforms. Only on much larger scale.

Regarding the ideas and quantity of work, I think Adam Grant spoke about this among others. https://www.ted.com/talks/adam_grant_the_surprising_habits_of_original_thinkers?utm_campaign=tedspread&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=tedcomshare
